Remember when newspapers printed great big strips like Gasoline Alley and Little Nemo in Slumberland that filled the entire eyeball with cartoon glory? No? Then, you’re probably not 90 years old. But now you can be when you order this 100% all-comics newspaper printed on real (as in real, acidic, deteriorating-over-a-century) newsprint, for the fun and novelty of retro participation.

In 2009, the Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy and art gallery Altered Esthetics created this giant 48-page real-life comics anthology featuring cartoon art by a slew of local talent. Guaranteed to last a life time or start excellent fires, it could take you over two dozen bathroom visits to read & examine in full. (But may I suggest it as a conversation starter for a coffee table first?)

Organized by Steve Stwalley (Bugmen, Soapy the Chicken) with a mixture of color and grayscale pages by zine, web, alternative and indy comix creators Kevin Cannon (Armatage Shanks), B.Sabo (All Night), Roger Lootine (Residue), Ken Avidor (Roadkill Bill), Andy Singer, Diana Nock, Mike Toft (Brain Food), David Steinlicht, Staplegenius and many, many more!

The back page, which imitates a “classifieds” section, provides bios for all the creators in true 20th century style.

Measuring 16″ wide x 11 1/2″ tall when folded, this monstrosity of delight unfolds to a full 23″ height of full page comics glory … for nearly 50 pages. Fits nicely on a shelf or folded up in a casual zine and periodical collection for discovery by unsuspecting house guests.

Order now and revel in the unique medium of newsprinted artwork (while we still can!)
